We are very happy to welcome as a kenote speaker at our Status Meeting 2022:

Prof. Dr. Walter Leitner

MPI for Chemical Energy Conversion, Mülheim a.d. Ruhr
Department of Molecular Catalysis

Title: “From Flexible to Adaptive: Activation and Transfer of Hydrogen using Multifunctional Catalytic Systems”

Prof. Walter Leitner  is Managing Director at the MPI for Chemical Energy Conversion and heads the Division of Molecular Catalysis.

His research focusses on the understanding of the molecular principles of catalysis as basis for mastering catalytic processes across all scales at the interface of energy and chemistry.

This includes challenges in the area of organometallic chemistry ranging from the molecular fundamentals to the development of novel reaction-engineering concepts.
The research topics are aligned with the principles of „Green Chemistry“ and comprise in particular:

  • the use of CO2 as chemical building block
  • the selective transformation of bio-based feedstocks
  • the utilization of advanved reaction media such as ionic liquids or supercritical fluids

The actual project plans are based on a rational mechanistic understanding, whereby computational chemistry plays a major role in the analysis and for predicitive catalyst design.

The CRC cordially invites all who are interested to the lecture.
