Diversity in CRC 1333
In the CRC 1333, we actively provide equal opportunities to excellent researchers of
all genders and backgrounds, and we are especially committed to supporting the compatibility of family life and an academic career.
The primary goal of the CRC 1333 is to establish a culture of scientific curiosity and collaboration that includes and supports all researchers in their careers independent of their individual personal context. By implementing a wide range of measures, we aim to encourage especially young female scientists to take responsibility as group leaders and/or professors, thereby increasing the number of women in leadership roles in science.

Within the framework of the CRC 1333 we have established dedicated programs to ensure equal opportunities for female researchers, offered different formats to promote diversity in research, and a range of measures to support compatibility between scientific work and family responsibilities.
Program at the University of Stuttgart
“Pooling – Synergies for Equal Opportunities in Research Networks”
The CRC 1333 is part of the “Pooling” at the University of Stuttgart. Within this alliance, the DFG-funded research consortia of the University of Stuttgart jointly promote equal opportunities in science and leverage synergies through collaborative, cross-network measures. The portfolio of measures includes a wide range of support for early-career female researchers in areas such as coaching, peer networking, and career and skills development. In addition, there are initiatives for all project members aimed at strengthening competencies in gender and diversity in science, as well as measures to improve the compatibility of research careers and family life.
Mentoring and networking are invaluable tools for promoting junior talent. Therefore, the CRC 1333 promotes the mentoring programs of the University of Stuttgart (GRADUS) and offers ZIA fellowships for its female scientists in cooperation with the Pooling initiative.
Gender & Diversity Board of the CRC 1333
Diversity is also part of our governing structure, with Johannes Kästner and Bettina Lotsch serving as “Diversity board” overseeing all measures and programs on equal opportunity, family-friendly policies and diversity.
