The annual CRC 1333 Status Meeting took place in Bad Boll from September 24-25, 2026.  All members of the CRC gathered for this two-day event, which serves as a central forum to present current research, exchange ideas, disuss strategies and expectations for the continued development of the CRC 1333. As the first seminar of the third funding period, this year’s event focused in particular on the expectations and plans for the new funding phase.

Over the course of the seminar, each research team from the areas A – Materials, B – Catalysis, C – Analysis, Theory and Simulation as well as FAIR data management (INF) had the opportunity to share and discuss their latest results.

During the poster session, our doctoral researchers showcased their research progress and received valuable feedback from their peers and professors.

And of course, there was also time to socialize with a lively pub quiz session.

The CRC 1333 Status Meeting proved once again to be a highly productive and inspiring gathering. We thank all participants for their valuable contributions!

Patrick has obtained his B.Sc. in Biochemistry at the Ruhr-University Bochum and his M.Sc. in Chemistry at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg.

Within the CRC 1333, he will be working in project A08. His research will focus on asymmetric oxidative catalysis in MOFs.

Zarfishan’s work will include the synthesis of hybrid MOCOF materials and the evaluation of their performance in various catalytic reaction systems. She previously worked in the Laschat Group in Project A08, where she focused on synthesising MOF linkers and evaluating the catalytic activity of Zr‑MOFs (UiO‑67 and UiO‑68) in aldol reactions.

This year’s conference brought together six major DFG-funded catalysis consortia: our CRC 1333, CRC/TRR 247, CRC 1441 TrackAct, CRC 1633, CRC 325, and the CataLight Coordination initiative. In addition, participants were introduced to CRC 1615 SMART Reactors and the research initiative Iron, upgraded!. A total of 186 scientists attended the meeting, making the conference one of the largest gatherings of the German catalysis community.

The scientific program featured six outstanding keynote lectures delivered by internationally renowned researchers

• Prof. Dr. Mircea Dincă “MOF-Enabled Catalysis for Commodity Chemicals”
• Dr. Vincent Artero “From Proton Relays to Microenvironments: Harnessing PCET processes in molecular catalysis for H₂ and CO₂ Conversion”
• Prof. Dr. Ming-Yu Ngai “Excited-State Catalysis in Organic Synthesis”
• Dr. Valerie Briois “Hyperspectral Full Field Quick EXAFS Imaging for Looking at the Dynamic of Spatial Heterogeneities along a Catalyst Bed”
• Prof. Dr. Ive Hermans “TS-1: The Gift that Keeps on Giving”
• Prof. Dr. Ken Sakai “Molecular Catalysis of Water Splitting and CO₂ Reduction”

In addition to the keynote lectures, the conference featured 26 presentations from the participating CRCs and nearly 100 poster contributions. These sessions highlighted the breadth of current catalysis research and stimulated lively discussions across disciplinary boundaries.

A special highlight of the conference was the poster award competition. To encourage cross-consortium exchange, poster presentations were evaluated by members of a different CRC than their own. The CRC 1333 was evaluated by the CataLight initative und vice-versa. Yannick Weidemann, CRC 1333 doctoral researcher won the prize for this poster on “Spectroelectrochemical Evidence on COF induced Confinement of Water” for the CRC 1333. We warmly congratulate him and all the other winners on this achievement.

The International CataLysis Conference once again demonstrated the strength of Germany’s catalysis research network. By bringing together researchers from diverse fields and career stages, the meeting fostered new collaborations, strengthened existing connections, and provided fresh perspectives on the future of catalysis research.

CRC 1333 would like to thank all speakers and participants for making this year’s conference such a successful and memorable event. We are already looking forward to the next gathering of the CataLysis Network!

Der Beitrag International CataLysis Conference 2026 Brings Together Germany’s Catalysis Community in Weimar erschien zuerst auf Collaborative Research Center 1333.

Their presentation highlighted the software tool MetaConfigurator as well as their latest publication from the INF project.

The session also provided an opportunity for an engaging discussion with the NFDI4Chem team on the future of data management in chemistry. Topics included sustainable RDM workflows, interoperability of data models, and community-driven approaches for improving the handling and reuse of scientific data.

The exchange emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing digital infrastructures and data standards for chemistry research.

The conference, organized by ADUC, took place from March 2–4, 2026 in Essen and brought together researchers from across the chemical sciences to discuss current developments in chemistry research and education.

In his presentation, Endo highlighted approaches for structuring, managing, and analyzing synthesis data for metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) using data models, supporting more efficient and reproducible materials research within CRC 1333.
